MY BLACKS & BLUES RADIO SHOW!!!

LISTEN TO 'BLACKS' & BLUES

THE BLUES IS TRUTH:

"The preacher said, 'God'll fogive a black man,
for 'most anything he do...
I ain't black, but I'm dark complec-ted.
Seem like he ought to forgive me too..."

THE BLUES IS JOY:

"I got a letter this morning.
My wife had a baby girl
When I got the news,
I was halfway 'round the world.

That's good news, that's good news,
that's good news, boys, what my baby said"

THE BLUES IS PAIN:

My baby moved this morning about half past nine.
She packed all her clothes, she didn't even bother mine.
And her tears came rolling down, her tears came rolling down.
She'd kissed me good-night; I knew she meant good-bye to me..."

THE BLUES IS HUMANITY -- OF ALL OF US:

"I lie awake nights and ponder world troubles,
And my answer is always the same;
That unless man puts an end to this damnable sin,
Hate will put the world in a flame .. what a shame!

Just because I'm in misery,
I don't beg for no sympathy.
But if it's not asking too much,
Please send me someone to love."

LISTEN ... to "BLACKS & BLUES"...the very best of the recorded black blues, and then some!

FREAKS !!!

According to Wikipedia, the word 'freak,' used as a noun, has several meanings and uses. It is used to categorize one with an unusual behavior or appearance, one that is a result of genetic mutation, or one one that is in some way deformed beyond the standard deviation of human characteristics.

Why, then, do we use this term to describe particularly liberal, expressive, and adventurous sexual partners?

Why are we so preoccupied with this that we have added words like 'freaky-diki,' 'freakazoid… Continue

STAY DOWN

I wrote this piece this morning, in dedication to a young poet whom I encountered in a Black Planet poetry group, The Artists Lounge. His name is ActivePoet. The more I thought about it, this is really a thought by which I wish to encourage all of us writers, artists, thinkers, and visionaries. But, again I must thank ActivePoet, whose youthful, vigorous rhymes and intense social pronouncements led me to think of this.

This is for us all.

STAY DOWN

If you never write another line

REVERSE DISCRIMINATION

This commentary first appeared as a blog in my Black Language group at www.hangout4artist.com. Please feel free to visit me there and create or join in a discussion. First, though, consider this:

Reverse discrimination.

Think about it. Have you ever used the term? Did you ever let someone say it and never even challenge this recent linguistic construct? What does it mean? Does it mean that something legitimate has been subverted? Reversed?

Why did we let him get away with that?… Continue

Help Wanted -- BLACKS NEED INQUIRE

HELP WANTED -- BLACKS NEED INQUIRE

Let's keep this as simple and as sane as possible. Yes, we should be concerned about the current lack of African -American professional baseball players on several levels. For one thing, this lack is not for reasons of discrimination at the 'hiring' level. Once Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier by breaking tinto big league baseball, most of the other teams had black players ready to go, or were wondering loudly enough to be heard, "Where ca… Continue

Hey Douglas, Welcome to Urban Lit Unverse. Please join us in The Lounge 2 and spit some Blues. We'd love to sit back, have a glass of wine and groove on your tunes. And as always, drinks are on the house.

Ciao
